May 22nd 2009 Venice :
International Seminar and euro-TC General Assembly

On Friday May 22nd, the members of Euro-TC were welcome to come together to an international seminar, followed by the organization’s members’assembly and board election.
Venice 09
(Palazzo Franchetti)

Erio Ziglio, Director of the WHO Regional Office Venice opened the seminar and welcomed all the participants in the Palazzo Franchetti. His speech was followed by a short introduction by Paolo Stocco, long time president of Euro-TC.
Afterwards Luigi Bertinato, Head of the Veneto Region International Office, was reporting about European networks in general and the role of the Veneto region and its participation in various such networks.
Subsequently three different speakers were giving reports on different   successful European projects on drug policies, prevention and reintegration into the labour market:

• Thierry Charlois from France/EFUS reported about the projects DCD I and DCD II
• Marco Zamarchi from Italy /Ceis Mestre reported about the Progetto Maieutica Veneto
• Wolfgang Heckmann from Germany /Fachhochschule Magdeburg presented the innovative   Peer Drive Clean   project

Following the three presentations a very productive international round table was moderated by Thomas Legl, covering the essential topics of cooperation on the international European level, its benefits and limits, including the role of treatment.
In the afternoon the Euro-TC member’s assembly was held. The main topics were the election of a new president and board as well as the planning of future events.
For a detailed report on the assembly, see the minutes
After the assembly a Euro-TC delegation was invited to a meeting with the Mayor of Venice Massimo Cacciari

Villa Renata as local organizer did a very perfect job and there was extremely positive feedback for the seminar for the organisational level as well as for the scientific quality and level of information. Special thanks have to be given to Barbara Cibin and Sabrina Tripodi who – in cooperation with Julia Kalchhauser from the Vienna office – gave the framework for a meeting which highly pleased all participants.

Gala Dinner on the terrace of Hotel Des Bains, Lido

To the honour of the outgoing board a gala dinner was organized on invitation of our colleagues of Villa Renata in the prestigious Hotel Des Bains in Lido. In this perfect venue again the achievements of the outgoing board especially of the now honorary president Paolo Stocco were highlighted. As a symbol of their energetic work and the practiced friendship also through sports – the outgoing board made “field studies” of the most different European cities where meetings were held through mutual jogging meetings in the morning – they received presents of sport t-shirts hoping to see them as active and in ongoing perfect shape in the future.

We are happy to introduce the new board of Euro-TC, as elected in the assembly:

-President: Dr. Thomas Legl /Austria
-Vice Presidents: José Antonio Gimeno
